Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask if any of you have experience using Ikea Besta furniture as a workbench in a workshop or DIY room.
Specifically, I am interested in whether the Besta cabinets and components are stable and strong enough to serve as a workbench base, and which worktop would be best to combine with them to create a sturdy, durable workbench.
I am also curious if the hinges, fittings, and surface finish are suitable for workshop use, and how you might protect everything against damage or dirt.

BASTIANTI7 Dec 2018 11:24Hey Horstbau! I built a Besta workbench and I absolutely love it! Important: Make sure to screw the modules together securely and definitely fasten the top board! I have a 30mm (1.2 inch) beech wood top, oiled, and I can fully support your plan.
If you’re working with heavier tools or materials, add metal brackets inside the elements. My workbench easily supports 50-60 kg (110-132 lbs) without wobbling. Super practical and looks great – highly recommended! Have fun building!
