Hello everyone, I am currently planning an extension of my Pax wardrobe system from IKEA and have a specific question: Is it possible to expand existing Pax drawers with additional inner drawers? It is important to me whether there are special frames or brackets available that allow this without compromising the stability or functionality of the main drawer. If so, which dimensions or models should I consider? I would prefer not to replace the entire drawer but only to better organize the interior space. Thanks for your expertise!
I find the discussion a bit too cautious. Of course, IKEA wants to convince us that everything fits perfectly with their modular systems, but in practice, there are often small differences between product lines and production years. The question of whether interior drawers will always fit should therefore be viewed critically. It is not uncommon that they only fit when you buy the matching combinations from the start or replace entire sets. Different material thicknesses, screw holes, or fastening clips can make a huge difference. So, if someone wants to expand an older Pax wardrobe with interior drawers, they shouldn’t expect too much.

Or do you have to replace the entire front or drawer series? I’d prefer not to buy a completely new Pax wardrobe just because of inner drawers.

In my case, with some patience and the right combination of modular internal drawers, I found a workable setup without having to replace the entire wardrobe. Sometimes you have to make compromises with the dimensions and be creative, but it’s worth it because you can make much better use of the storage space in the end. Keep at it and try out different models—often, a visit to the IKEA store can help you find suitable parts in person.
