Hello, we have had a Judo Softwell S water softening system since 2019. It now requires maintenance, which we initially postponed. The customer service is asking for 320 euros for the maintenance. Does anyone here do it themselves and know what exactly is involved? Do you handle the maintenance yourself or do you have the customer service do it?
Thank you.
Thank you.
Then I guess I’ll have to take that on myself. It still works (the specified hardness level of 7 is correct), and that’s how I want to keep it. Maybe next time I can watch and do part of it myself.
Additional costs can really add up. Ventilation and the heat pump theoretically also need maintenance; for the ventilation, we’ve done most of it ourselves so far. With the heat pump, the technician has been there so often that I’ve saved myself from doing it up to now.

My plumber has now reported that I should rather have it done by the manufacturers (for me, besides descaling, also the ventilation system from Vaillant), as it would be even more expensive through him. I can maintain the ventilation system myself, but then I would lose the warranty. I actually didn’t want to do that for the first five years...
This is going to be expensive...
Ventilation: 283 EUR
Heat pump: 260 EUR
Descaling: 301 EUR
Ugh!

For us, the maintenance service comes once a year, which costs about 300 euros. They completely disassemble and clean the system. Based on recent experience in our home, I strongly recommend having the system serviced according to the manufacturer’s instructions; otherwise, the insurance will not cover any damages. Alternatively, the system should be taken out of operation.
We had water damage (the brine pump failed to pump out), costing about 10,000 euros. The last maintenance was 14 months ago, while the requirement is every 6 months. Our system has now been taken offline (Grünberg DeltaP) because operating it with such high maintenance costs is not worthwhile.
A statement from a knowledgeable independent plumber friend familiar with the situation: “If you use the factory service, they find a part costing 600 to 800 euros every year that needs to be replaced.” Of course, everyone wants to make money, but that sounds excessive.
