Hello, we have had a Judo Softwell S water softening system since 2019. It now requires maintenance, which we initially postponed. The customer service is asking for 320 euros for the maintenance. Does anyone here do it themselves and know what exactly is involved? Do you handle the maintenance yourself or do you have the customer service do it?

Thank you.

Are there no opinions on this?

I don’t have a water softener system, but what exactly needs to be done? And how detailed is the description in the manual? I would read through it and then decide if I felt capable of doing it myself. If it’s just a filter or cartridge replacement, I wouldn’t spend 300€.

Maybe none of you have a Judo?
I have a Grünbeck, and recently it started flashing as well.
Grünbeck offers two types of maintenance. The six-month check is basically just an inspection to make sure everything is sealed properly and, if needed, to clean it.

The one-year maintenance involves a full disassembly, which I wouldn't attempt without having seen it done at least once.

There are plenty of DIY videos online, so you can see if you feel confident doing it yourself. I plan to do the full maintenance only after the warranty has expired.

We have a service technician come once a year, which costs about 300 euros, to completely disassemble, clean, disinfect, and check the functionality. Since we also drink tap water from the refrigerator, this is quite important to us. Cars have to go for service every year, which is completely normal, but with these kinds of appliances, maintenance always seems to be a bit of an issue.

So, there is no maintenance manual for this, and that's exactly why I'm asking what needs to be done! I also can't find any YouTube videos, not even for other water softening systems?!

I specifically asked about water softening systems in general.

@Tolentino: approximately how much do the two services cost at Grünbeck?

I find $300 per year quite steep.
