Good morning,
I am currently working on lowering the floor of my basement (built in 1957).
The plan includes excavation of 40cm (16 inches) – strip footings are about 10cm (4 inches) deeper.
50mm (2 inches) of crushed stone, 50mm (2 inches) of perimeter insulation, waterproofing membranes or polyethylene foil, 100mm (4 inches) of concrete, and tiles.
The floor does not need to bear heavy loads; it will be used as a heating and laundry basement. The heaviest load is likely to be the pellet storage bunker.

One question regarding the perimeter insulation:
I can get 60mm (2.4 inches) insulation from DOW Agmate Tg very cheaply. Really very cheap. According to the manufacturer, this insulation is not suitable for perimeter use.
My question: Does anyone here have experience with these XPS rigid foam boards and can tell me if there could really be major problems? If only the load capacity of boards that are normally used for ceilings is somewhat lower, that would not matter in my case.
