Hello,

today I was lucky that a 20-ton excavator accidentally “dug up” my underground cable between the house and the garage (the conduit was incorrectly installed by another company—not where it was planned—and the warning tape wasn’t placed far enough from the cable, but that’s another issue).

Since the cable costs more than 2 EUR/m (NYY-J 4mm²), I wanted to know if I can still safely use the leftover pieces or if I need to dispose of the entire cable because of possible additional damage. The cable was in a conduit and was pulled out a bit from the wall on both ends (garage and house). On one side of the excavator’s bucket, it was cleanly cut; 120 cm (47 inches) further on the other side of the bucket it was stripped. Can I still use the two leftover pieces separately (about 25 m (82 feet) each)? I measured a specific resistance of 110 mOhm on all conductors—does that mean the cable is still okay?
I will replace the cable itself because I don’t want to repair it outdoors, but maybe I can at least use the cable from the breaker panel to the workshop?

Thanks for your advice!
