Our development plan requires that secondary buildings use the same roofing material as the main house. So, if the house has tiles, the roof of the outbuildings must have tiles as well. I also found a company that sells kits designed to support a tiled roof.

For various Braas roof tiles, they provide material lists so you can source the roofing materials yourself. However, for our house, we are using Creaton Magnum tiles, which naturally look a bit different. The closest match would be the Harzer Pfanne tile, which is also wavy but with shorter spacing.

If I want to use the Magnums, I would have to calculate the material list myself (which is fairly straightforward) and also adjust the roof overhangs accordingly (not so simple?). Has anyone here ever done such calculations and can tell me if my approach is basically correct?

First, the basic approach:
The cover width is 296mm (11.7 inches), the main house is 4m (13.1 feet) long plus overhangs. One verge tile covers 250mm (9.8 inches), and I need two of those. Then, with 14 tiles in between, I get roof overhangs of about 25cm (10 inches) at the back and 40cm (16 inches) at the front.

Now, the roofing area calculations:
The width of the main house is 3.5m (11.5 feet). At the ridge there is a 7cm (2.8 inches) gap, and at the eaves 39cm (15.4 inches); between these, covering 39–41cm (15.4–16.1 inches) per course is allowed. The roof has a pitch of 18 degrees, so with 1.75m (5.7 feet) per half, I need to plan for about 2.1m (6.9 feet). This fits perfectly with 4 intermediate rows at 41cm (16.1 inches). This results in a width of 200cm (6.6 feet), corresponding to a 25cm (10 inch) roof overhang.

Here is the calculation as it appears in my Excel sheet

Tabelle Dachberechnung: Maße, Ueberstaende, Gesamtlaenge, Ziegelanzahl.

Is this correct, or am I making a mistake somewhere?
