Hello,

we will soon receive the handover of our new build and want to install vinyl flooring on the upper floors.

We plan to install the vinyl flooring ourselves and want to lay it as a floating floor (on the new screed).
We do not want to glue it down.

Unfortunately, it is not easy to find the right vinyl flooring.

What types of vinyl flooring are there and how do they differ? (I’m a bit lost here)

Rigid vinyl
Solid vinyl
Click vinyl
Rigid core vinyl
Are there any others?

(I will exclude the types that require gluing.)

Impact sound insulation:

All types of vinyl flooring are available with or without integrated impact sound insulation.
Vinyl with integrated impact sound insulation is easier to install, but what is really better?

Manufacturers:

Which manufacturers would you recommend?

In my search, I came across the following manufacturers:

HORI
Parador
Wineo

Are there other top vinyl manufacturers? What do you think of the brands mentioned? Is vinyl from these manufacturers reliable?
Please feel free to share more recommendations.

What else should be considered when buying vinyl flooring?

What should you look for in the locking system?

Thank you very much for your help.

We also have rigid vinyl flooring, which we installed in the bathroom as well. It works perfectly. As a test, we placed a piece in a bucket of water and left it there over the weekend. Nothing happened at all, so it is completely resistant to water and moisture.

We chose one with integrated impact sound insulation from Parador. So far, we are really satisfied, despite having small children and cats. It has only been installed for 2 years, but everything is still great!

Thank you for sharing your experience.

How did you install the rigid vinyl in the bathroom? Floating or glued down?
Only wet rooms like bathrooms require it to be glued down, right?

I have no experience regarding whether to use it or not. I personally bought without it and will install impact sound insulation beneath during the flooring installation.

ok

Which manufacturer of rigid vinyl flooring would you recommend?

Hori
Parador

You can’t go wrong with either of these, right?

Which others would you recommend?

What do you think about the following products?

Haro Disano completely PVC-free rigid vinyl flooring (Blue Angel)

Which other completely PVC-free vinyl floors do you know?

It must be glued in wet areas like bathrooms, right?

Installed as a floating floor. I’m not aware that it has to be glued down. Rigid vinyl is actually advertised as suitable for floating installation in bathrooms.

Okay, I thought bathrooms always require glued flooring.

Which manufacturers can you recommend for rigid vinyl?

Which manufacturers do you recommend for completely PVC-free and plasticizer-free vinyl flooring (Blue Angel certified)?

I believe PVC-free flooring is called something different, like luxury vinyl tile or bio flooring.
