we will soon receive the handover of our new build and want to install vinyl flooring on the upper floors.
We plan to install the vinyl flooring ourselves and want to lay it as a floating floor (on the new screed).
We do not want to glue it down.
Unfortunately, it is not easy to find the right vinyl flooring.
What types of vinyl flooring are there and how do they differ? (I’m a bit lost here)
Rigid vinyl
Solid vinyl
Click vinyl
Rigid core vinyl
Are there any others?
(I will exclude the types that require gluing.)
Impact sound insulation:
All types of vinyl flooring are available with or without integrated impact sound insulation.
Vinyl with integrated impact sound insulation is easier to install, but what is really better?
Manufacturers:
Which manufacturers would you recommend?
In my search, I came across the following manufacturers:

Wineo
Are there other top vinyl manufacturers? What do you think of the brands mentioned? Is vinyl from these manufacturers reliable?

Can I simply install the Modular One in the attic over 35sqm (375 sq ft) continuously across the expansion joints?
What do we need to place under the Modular One? I thought we only needed to use the Parador PE foil.

Fleckenzwerg13 Mar 2023 10:04We also installed the PE foil over the screed joints – by the way, it doesn’t necessarily have to be the one from Parador; they would of course prefer that... A well-stocked specialist store will certainly be able to offer you a suitable foil. How are the windows in the attic? I would think carefully before simply leaving out the joints. If the floor gets damaged, the manufacturer will not provide any warranty. I have seen that there are also expansion joints made of cork – these are less noticeable.

I’ve seen that there are also expansion joints made from cork – they are less noticeable. Visually, it would of course look much better if we just laid the floor over the expansion joints.
Incorporating an expansion joint into the floor wouldn’t look as nice.
Has anyone had experience with simply laying the floor over the expansion joints?
