Hello everyone,

we are moving this month and need a new kitchen. I like the Metod series quite a bit, but my partner and I are not yet completely sure about the look of the fronts. My idea was to buy the carcasses now, install the countertop on top, connect the sink and appliances, and think about the type of drawers and fronts later.

So my question is simple: Is this possible? And if yes, does buying the carcasses and fronts separately cost significantly more than buying a complete set, or is the difference not that big?

There is no price change at all. You can already buy the Metod cabinets and install and even use the drawers without the fronts. I had to do that for weeks because the fronts I chose were not available. You can easily attach the fronts later. Regards

Ok, great, and thanks for the quick response. Maybe I’ll have the fronts custom-made somewhere myself. Honestly, I don’t understand why a rectangular board at Ikea should cost up to 50€. The material value isn’t worth more than 5€.

Hello,
it usually doesn’t get cheaper if you have fronts custom-made by companies like beptum.de. Also, you still have to drill the holes for the drawer slides yourself. Compare the prices for your preferred front on koettbilligar.de. Sometimes, a short trip combined with buying fronts can be worthwhile.
Förvara drawers might be too unstable to use without fronts, while with Maximera that is only partly an issue.

I also assumed Maximera.
Who still buys drawers without soft-close nowadays....
