Hi, what a great forum! I’m very happy to have found it!!!

I’m thinking about buying an IKEA kitchen and have a few questions. Unfortunately, the nearest IKEA is quite far away, so I can’t see the products in person or ask staff directly. I tried calling the hotline, but it’s impossible to get through, and email responses take a long time. That’s why I’m really glad this forum exists! What I’d like to know is:

1. For the ready-made cabinet combinations, something in the product description always says “legs and plinths/baseboards are sold separately.” What does that mean? Are the plinths/baseboards shown in the pictures included, or are only the feet included and the plinths/baseboards have to be purchased separately?

2. For the cabinet carcasses alone, there are no feet or plinths/baseboards included. Do you buy the plinth/baseboard separately? They don’t come under 220 cm (7 ft 3 in), which is an awkward size and always leaves leftover pieces. If you have to saw them yourself, are there at least markings on the back for the different widths and depths? It would be better if IKEA offered ready-made sets, since there are only two depths and four widths anyway.

3. There are also 2 m (6 ft 7 in) high doors. How and where do you attach the handles on those? I like the Orrnäs handles, for example. Do you mount them vertically (which wouldn’t match the rest of the cabinets) or horizontally, and are there markings on the back of the door for that, at least lines indicating the height (since there are many different handle types)?

Thanks in advance!

I want to place a long countertop over several base cabinets. It doesn’t work.

I believe it does.
You first need to put the countertop on a free space and then drag it over the base cabinets.
This only works if you drag the countertop all the way to the base cabinet (it snaps there) and then use the arrow key to move the countertop toward the base cabinet. If at least a small part of the countertop overlaps the base cabinet, the countertop suddenly turns red. From there, you can continue dragging the countertop with the mouse.
I hope I explained this clearly enough.
Best regards

You don’t necessarily need filler panels at the ends of the runs; you could also leave the space open.

If you like dirt corners, that’s an option. You can’t place the cabinet directly against the wall because then the door won’t open properly or a drawer might scrape against the wall.

On the website, you can view the included components of a modular cabinet under Product Information --> Item Number, Packaging Dimensions & Weight. In a second tab, you then enter the numbers in the search.

The planner is top-notch and much simpler to use compared to, for example, Nolte. Overall, it offers you exactly what Ikea offers.

You can choose all the carcasses, fronts, countertops, panels, plinths, end panels/strips, inner drawers, handles, worktops, and more!

In the end, the planner is a straightforward tool for the general public—nothing more, nothing less. If you want personalized advice, you should use the planning service or visit a kitchen showroom.

Simply place the carcass, and on the right side, you can customize everything individually.

If you don’t want to install your oven at 80cm (31.5 inches) but at 100cm (39.4 inches), you’ll need the carcass that is made specifically for that, or you can take an empty carcass and customize it.

Aside from that, I would almost consider 100cm (39.4 inches) too high; with the plinth included, you’ll already be at about 110cm (43.3 inches), which is higher than a typical countertop.
