Hello everyone,
we are about to start building our new house. One of the first steps was visiting a bathroom showroom, after which we received a quote for €11,000 over the original offer from the plumbing company. The fact is, the initial quote for both bathrooms was only €2,500, which is obviously completely unrealistic. On top of that, we chose very expensive sanitary fixtures and furniture. We confronted the plumbing company a bit because it’s really unfair to submit such low quotes and put the homeowners in a difficult position—especially since we didn’t have a detailed breakdown of the first offer and simply didn’t know better.
In the end, we agreed with the plumbing company that we will purchase all the faucets, bathroom furniture, etc., ourselves, and they will install everything for an hourly rate, or we might even do it ourselves in the end. This results in a total saving of about €3,000 to €4,000, which is quite significant.
My question now is: since I have to submit all invoices to our financing bank, can I include an invoice from, for example, Reuter.de? I think it should be possible, but I haven’t been able to find clear information online. This would be for faucets, sanitary fixtures, bathroom furniture, etc.
Thanks for your help.

Oh dear. Warranty. I understand that the original poster is only installing the sanitary fixtures anyway. It’s usually clear whether the problem is inside or in front of the wall....
and still the contractor will tell you: Maybe you installed your toilet incorrectly, so it’s out of warranty...If only it were that simple!
Who is to blame when the tiles come loose? The one who laid the tiles or the one responsible for the screed?

Who is responsible when the tiles start lifting? The person who installed the tiles or the one who did the screed? In court, it’s like being at sea…
Our contractors had quite a heated argument when it came to deciding who was at fault.

If only it were that simple! If I connect a toilet bowl incorrectly to a concealed cistern, I should generally steer clear of an electrician.
Especially if the tradesperson tries to use that as an excuse to claim that the water supply or drainage pipes are leaking somewhere inside the bathroom partition wall.

Zimbo_One25 Sep 2020 21:29Does anyone know if there is any room for negotiation on the high RRP prices from the major sanitary suppliers, or do they refuse to budge? Otherwise, we are considering buying online or elsewhere.
My plumber said right from the start that he does not install materials supplied by the client.
That’s a bit inconvenient because the supplier I was referred to only offers list prices.
The standard specified in the general contractor’s tender is unattractive to us (except for the toilet bowl), and there are hardly any credits available for it either. I’m still waiting for the change order quote but I suspect I’ll tell him to prepare everything and store the materials somewhere; I’ll install the items I want myself. Then I’ll sell the rest on the small online marketplace...

You can find very good products for bathrooms at Ikea, the Godmorgon series is, in my opinion, of very good quality.
I agree. The value for money is really impressive. The bathroom cabinet we recently installed looks very high-quality and is well-designed for the low price.Similar topics
