An important question for many. Both options have advantages and disadvantages. How did you decide, and why?

Would you make the same choice again?

Purchase of a newly built condominium. Yes, I would definitely do it the same way again.

Anything else, like a resale property, would only cause stress and take up time. 1 I don’t want, 2 I don’t have or consider it not worth it.

Buying a used condominium, move-in ready: Yes, I would do it again – it was cost-effective and quick.

Buying a condominium plus major renovation (DIY): Yes, I would do it again – it was a bargain but required a lot of work.

Buying a single-family house in a foreclosure auction plus some renovations: Yes, I would do it again – it was a gamble, but I was able to sell the house eight years later with a 35% profit.

New construction of a condominium (self-managed construction plus extensive DIY): Yes, I would do it again (although I only lived there for 1.5 years) – I realized my own dreams but endured a lot of stress and effort.

For all the options I have experienced over the past 20 years, there are pros and cons. It always depends on personal circumstances, life situations, preferences, budgets, and so on.

My next property is already in planning as well. A used single-family house in a more suburban location, including major renovation. My current condominium is simply too small, and my neighbors annoy me. ;-)
