Hello everyone
We keep having disagreements about this topic.
How did you build your house? With or without a basement?
On one hand, I think: More space just means more room to store more stuff.
I have also considered compensating for the space by having a large double garage.
An attic would "also" be available then.
Hmm.....
I would appreciate your experiences.
I’ve also heard that not having a basement can be problematic because of moisture?
And cold from below?

We currently still have 30m2 (320 sq ft) of living space in the basement. However, it is dead space. No one uses the rooms (guest room and office) or only very occasionally.
A house can also be built a bit higher without a basement. After all, there is still a concrete slab underneath. We have exactly one step from the house to the street (or we can design it without any step by slightly sloping the path), and the terrace will also be a bit higher than the garden.

?..A basement that is dark and damp and used only for storage is also a somewhat "conservative" view However, that was exactly THE basement that no one wanted to do without in the past.
Good thing the past isn’t the present, right? To each their own.

Instead, in the basement? Almost – but then a small moat helped, which we wouldn’t have been able to create without a basement...
