Good morning everyone,
Together with our architect, we have planned a single-family house. However, our architect, instead of specifying the usual bituminous membrane waterproofing (1st layer bituminous membrane, 2nd layer bituminous membrane with fabric reinforcement, and applying the insulation up to the first row of bricks), has specified a two-component crack-bridging mineral waterproofing slurry (MDS). The application steps are similar to those mentioned above.
Now, I am unsure whether the waterproofing should stop at the first row of bricks or if it should extend up to the second row of bricks (5 cm (2 inches)) as shown in the detail. I am wondering how this should be executed on site.
What do you think about this? Is it correct as specified? Can this be reasonably expected from the builder?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards
