Hello everyone,
what do you think about starting the construction of a house in early to mid-November, brick by brick?
Are there any risks involved, especially if winter sets in by early to mid-December?

Could there be issues with masonry work, and is it possible to simply pause the structural shell at that point?
I would appreciate your professional opinion on this.

Best regards

So far, nothing has delayed the start of construction. We’re going into the Christmas break with the basement ceiling fully poured. If the weather stays stable, the roof frame will be erected at the end of January or beginning of February... With that, happy holidays!

Congratulations on finishing the basement.

Comparing this to the posted floor plan, I assume the garage is located behind the house from this view. Or how have you arranged the layout now? Would you like to share it again?

Up to what temperature can bricks actually be bonded, meaning laid with mortar?

I think I heard it’s around 5°C (41°F).

Where does your Novemer builder stand at the moment?

Progress is slow due to the weather. The ground floor masonry is completed, and the scaffolding was put up today. On Friday, the ground floor/upper floor ceiling will be installed.
How are things going for you?

We had to take about a one-week break due to the weather. Otherwise, the temperatures have always been borderline.

The roof is scheduled to be covered next week. Some mention a six-week shell construction phase; we did not manage that.

A 6-week shell construction phase is naturally only possible in good weather. If I remember correctly, my construction company even guaranteed 8 weeks for the building period outside the bad weather season. For us, as mentioned, it took 5-6 weeks, even though we did the electrical work ourselves and there was usually a 2-3 day break per ceiling due to pulling cables...
