Hello everyone,

I am facing the following issue. I have constructed a strip foundation measuring 6 by 3 meters (19.7 by 9.8 feet). On top of that, one layer of calcium silicate bricks (24 cm (9.5 inches) thick) was built, including a masonry damp-proof course. Adjacent to it, paving stones were installed up to the edge. The bricks were already coated with bitumen. Now I wanted to continue with aerated concrete blocks, but I have learned that it would have been better to use cement mortar rather than masonry mortar for the first layer. Does anyone have experience with this? Do I have to demolish everything now? I am a bit desperate at the moment. What could be the worst-case scenario?

The shed is planned to be about 2.30 meters (7.5 feet) high and connected to an extended flat roof (carport).

Masonry mortar from Hornbach: NM IIa according to DIN V 18580; G according to DIN EN 998-2 // M5, mortar class according to DIN EN 998-2

Thank you very much!

Best regards, Steve
