Hi everyone,

I wallpapered for the first time. On my wall, the old wallpaper was behind the baseboard (which doesn’t come off easily). Because of that, the result turned out pretty poor, and now the area between the wallpaper and the baseboard looks quite messy. Unfortunately, it varies a lot, sometimes just half a millimeter, other times almost a centimeter (about 0.02 to 0.4 inches). In some spots, it’s even a bit deep.

Now I’m considering covering it with acrylic filler adhesive. From your perspective, is this the most sensible option? Besides using the right paint color, what else should I keep in mind? Should I smooth it out in the end, and if so, with my finger (that’s how it was done in two videos I saw) or is there a better tool for this?

I would apply an acrylic sealant. Of course, it takes a bit of practice. I prefer to smooth it out using a silicone spatula. Using your finger doesn’t work as well for me. My advice would definitely be to buy a good quality acrylic, for example Ottoseal.

I always use L10 light filler for white baseboards. You'll have to see if it works well for you too.
