ᐅ Penetration for a kitchen exhaust vent in a house (Energy Saving Regulation 2014)?

Recently, we purchased a semi-detached house built to the 2014 Energy Saving Ordinance standard. The kitchen is open, and we cook warm, oily meals every day. Therefore, we would like to have an exhaust vent, even though the house was designed with a ventilation system. Officially, we are not allowed to make a wall penetration. I would just like to ask what might happen if we decide to do this later anyway? What consequences could there be? Thank you.

No, you don’t need a pressure monitor for a kitchen extractor fan and a chimney — a simple window contact is sufficient. There are no problems even at Christmas — I have both a controlled residential ventilation system and an extractor fan, as well as a chimney, and of course also a pressure monitor and a window contact. But that wasn’t really the topic here...?

A really good recirculating hood can sometimes be even less expensive than a wall penetration (and avoids this discussion).

Hi,

what Sebastian meant is:

"it doesn't matter at all what any seller thinks. With my property, I can do whatever I want, including drilling holes in the wall as I please"

Depending on how the wall is constructed, it should indeed be drilled by professionals.

The only potential issue could be that the KfW standard might change. I’m not sure if an exhaust hood is taken into account during the calculation. If you then fall below the KfW 70 standard but are simultaneously receiving subsidies for KfW 70, that could indeed cause a problem.

Best regards,

Andreas

Thanks very much. I am not receiving any subsidies from KfW because the Energy Saving Regulation 2014 sets a lower standard than KfW 70. KfW 70 means 70% of the energy consumption of the Energy Saving Regulation standard. I only fear that later the house might no longer be sellable as an Energy Saving Regulation compliant house.
