Hello,
we are currently deciding whether to do more of the painting work ourselves or to outsource it, and are considering getting a Bosch paint spraying system.
Has anyone had experience using it (preferably the slightly more expensive 5000 model) with water-based paints?
Reviews vary widely. Some call it a “great device,” while others say “the paint mist spreads everywhere” and “the airflow blows all your protective sheets and fleece around the entire room.”
Opinions range from “huge labor saver” to “complete waste of money.” Some say “fine for one room, but I wouldn’t use it for an entire house,” while others say “not worth it for a single room, but better for a whole house.” …
Can anyone shed some light on this?

@kati1337 Yes.

@nordanney Yes, we are satisfied with it.

We started practicing in the bedroom... It’s not perfect there yet. But something needs to be done soon anyway because of settlement cracks...

In the living/dining area and kitchen, we used almost the same tinted (shell) color everywhere. Except for one wall in the kitchen and the chimney, which we painted white and then painted red afterward.

Interior during construction phase: red accent wall, wood stove, ladder, building materials, window to garden.

Interior with window below; brown wall stripe and round repair patch; painter’s tape along ceiling edge.

Beige wall with black leather sofa at the bottom; dark rectangular trash bin on the right.

Cool, that looks really nice!

Right now, I’m moving away from the idea of doing it myself. After a house inspection by a professional with excellent reviews (in the triple digits), we received an offer today for less than 6000€ including materials for the entire house, one round of sanding, priming, wallpapering, and painting.
I think we would easily spend 2000–3000€ just on materials, and while the professional’s working hours won’t be excessive, for us as amateurs with a one-year-old baby and no babysitter, it feels like an overwhelming, huge task to finish the whole house. So, we’re currently leaning strongly toward hiring the professional and enjoying a nice, finished house without any DIY shortcuts.

At the moment, I’m moving away from the idea of doing it myself. After a professional inspection of the house by someone with excellent reviews (in the triple digits), we received a quote today for less than 6000€ (about $6,600). This includes all the materials for the entire house, sanding once, priming, wallpapering, and painting.
I think we would easily spend 2000-3000€ (about $2,200-$3,300) just on materials, and the professional’s work time should be reasonable. But for us as laypeople with a one-year-old baby and no babysitter, it feels like an overwhelming, huge task to finish the entire house. So right now, we’re strongly leaning towards hiring the job out and enjoying a nice, finished home without risking poor workmanship.

In my opinion, that would be a very sensible decision to avoid having to deal with frustrating issues at the final stage. I completely understand, even though I’ve done this kind of work many times myself.
In most cases, you simply notice the difference!
