For my upcoming house construction, I would like to handle the electrical installation myself (and of course have it inspected and approved by a certified electrician at the end). Does anyone know a good book that clearly explains what needs to be considered during electrical installation? It should cover topics like how to lay conduit pipes, and so on…

Was this drilled into craftsmen during vocational school? That’s precisely why they learn it thoroughly from the ground up and have to pass an exam. Honestly, I could buy books and watch videos about how to drive a car, but a) that doesn’t mean I actually know how to drive, and b) I’m not allowed to do it without a driver’s license.
Of course, gaining knowledge through reading is not a bad idea, but please, one should never overestimate their own abilities.
If it’s about saving money, you can certainly do some prep work yourself in agreement with the craftsman, but only within reasonable limits.
I’m sure no one here has mastered their trained profession just by reading books or watching DIY videos.

I'm sure no one here learned their profession solely by reading books or watching DIY videos. Absolutely correct! I just wanted to respond to the argument "You don't know how to hammer a nail into the wall, so don't do it!" because I believe it makes much more sense to show that person how to properly hammer the nail instead. Or at least tell them where they can look it up (correction: where they can watch the video explaining this process). I see it this way because I’m convinced that even the most skilled tradesperson started out completely inexperienced. Everything they know today, they had to learn and acquire.
And of course, you don’t become an expert (with over 20 years of professional experience) from a DIY book alone. And of course, there are tasks in construction that really should be done by someone with some experience and knowledge. Hopefully, trades companies are not sending only their apprentices...
