lesmue79We are slowly getting into the details for the terraces and the transition from the house to them.
Concrete step slabs seem to be the common cost-effective solution, if I understand correctly.
As an alternative, I’ve come across slip-resistant aluminum window sills, but I’m not sure what to think of them.
Are there any significant advantages or disadvantages?
I imagine aluminum might be easier to install and handle, especially since my window and balcony door widths are about 2 meters (6.6 feet). I don’t think concrete step slabs are usually available that wide, so I would have to join them, which I don’t find very appealing visually.
However, I’m unsure about how aluminum would heat up in direct sunlight and what that would mean for walking barefoot.
Or should I go for a natural stone window sill instead?

Hi, there is a similar thread here. With aluminum, I would be concerned about dents, especially scratches. What speaks against engineered stone, terrazzo, or something similar? Also, the stonemason near you can make something suitable without joints. That is durable and long-lasting. And of course, these are available in widths of 1 meter (3.3 feet) – they are just quite heavy.
Sturdy aluminum exit steps are, I believe, more of a marketing term!

Regarding artificial stone exterior window sills, I quickly found almost no information online (at least for outdoor use). Either the options are explicitly for interior use, or if meant for exterior, then it’s aluminum or natural stone. We have both a large hardware store and several natural stone suppliers nearby. I can’t share more details here, as that is not allowed.
Aluminum is not particularly resistant to foot traffic.
