For our new build, we have a carport attached to the garage. The neighbor’s garage is directly on the property line, and we want to place a carport next to it (there will likely be just a few centimeters of clearance, so it will be connected to our house, not to the neighbor’s garage).
My question concerns the ground levels—since the neighbor’s house is much lower, we will be about 50cm (20 inches) higher than theirs. Therefore, we need to build up the soil next to their garage to lay the foundation and paving for our carport.
Would it be sufficient, with their consent, to apply a bituminous damp-proof course along their garage plaster at the height where our paving will be, then install a dimpled membrane against it, and backfill the soil? Or do we need to consider another method?
Thank you very much!
