Hi,
a biological wastewater treatment system was installed underground in our garden. It’s no longer just a simple tank with three chambers; no, this system now requires a control unit with electricity. Well then. 🙄

As far as I understand, the technology is only used to blow air in and stir the contents (mmm, delightful). I have been an aquarist for many years and have several large tanks where the same principle applies. A stagnant body of water quickly becomes a dead one, but not immediately. So here is my question:

Continuous operation seems excessive for the purpose of biological breakdown. Almost all of my tanks are turned off at night, and the ecosystem remains healthy. Does anyone have experience controlling a wastewater treatment system with a timer to reduce electricity consumption? Is it possible to run it for only a few hours a day or, for example, stir once per hour—then stop?
