Hello everyone, I recently bought a Billy bookshelf from IKEA and want to use it as stably as possible. The construction is quite simple, but I’m wondering what tips there are to ensure maximum stability, especially when storing many or rather heavy books and folders. Are there any proven tricks for assembly, additions, or modifications to consider? I’m already aware of the usual advice like wall anchoring, but maybe there are some less well-known tips? Thank you in advance!

Instead, tighten all screws gradually and evenly to avoid deformation. I also recommend not replacing the supplied shelves with your own thin alternatives – the original shelves are specifically designed to be structurally stable.
The balance between easy assembly and stability is always a challenge with Billy. My advice: Before assembly, check if the floor surface is level and, if necessary, use small cork or plastic shims to even out any unevenness. This will make the shelf stand more securely and reduce the risk of tipping.
