Hello everyone,
I have been experiencing an issue for some time now where the doors of my Billy shelf keep falling off. This happens especially with more frequent opening and closing, which naturally affects the stability and also creates a risk of damage to the doors or injury to someone.
I would be interested to know if anyone here has had similar problems and what safety measures you would recommend to prevent the doors from falling off. Are there specific hinges or additional fasteners that can be installed? Or perhaps simple DIY tricks that might help?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I have also installed small plastic or metal strips at the top ends of the doors. These act as guide rails and prevent the doors from coming loose forward. This is a simple solution that works without major modifications and significantly increases safety.
I recommend magnetic locks because they experience less wear and allow the doors to close smoothly. Mechanical latches are more robust but can become annoying quickly, especially with frequent use.

And a small tip from me: try to take off the "operator’s goggles" you use when constantly handling the shelf and have a bit of patience when adjusting the doors. Often, just a little fine-tuning is enough to get the Billy shelf working perfectly again.
Small DIY tasks can also be fun when you keep an overview and know what matters. Good luck to everyone!
