Hello everyone,
I have a wooden Billy bookcase in my living room, which gets quite dusty due to its location next to an open window. Especially when there is a lot of dust, I am wondering about the best way to clean the bookcase without damaging the surface or causing water stains. Does anyone know of specific methods or recommended products for cleaning Billy bookcases with heavy dust buildup? I am particularly interested in tips on how to remove the dust effectively without harming the wood, and how to care for the bookcase afterward to reduce the speed at which dust settles again. Thank you in advance!

Thank you for the tips so far.
However, I’m wondering if anyone here has experience with using a vacuum cleaner together with a microfiber cloth for everyday cleaning. The vacuum cleaner is obviously more effective, but does it leave visible marks or even scratches? And is a special attachment necessary?
Also, I’d be interested to know if anyone is aware of a method that is particularly useful for heavy dust build-up near open windows, such as occasional wiping with specific products or special care treatments for wooden shelves.

This method is gentle and cleans effectively without damaging the coating.
