Hello everyone,

I’m new here and have a question about the Besta drawer with the push-to-open system.

I have a 60x40x64 cm (24x16x25 inches) Besta carcass with a 38 cm (15 inch) and a 26 cm (10 inch) drawer installed. The additional screws at the front of the slides are secured, the drawers are hung and locked with the securing levers. The height of the drawers has been adjusted using the adjustment screws – so far, everything is fine.

Now the BUT:

The drawers only open and close by push-to-open by chance. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t (mostly not). When closing, sometimes it latches only on one side, sometimes only on the other, and very rarely on both sides. Both drawers usually get stuck on the right side. My question is whether the slides can be adjusted in any other way to make the push-to-open system work properly? I haven’t found anything in the manual about this, or maybe I just didn’t understand it?

The slides are installed correctly and cannot be moved in any direction due to the preset drill holes. What am I doing wrong?

I appreciate any help.

Hello,
there’s really no way to go wrong here. Just replace the damn thing.

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, I’m also having problems with our new Besta system. We bought it with only 3 instead of 2 units.

The doors are at the bottom and the drawers with the "Selsviken" push-to-open system are on top, as intended by Ikea. We have been trying to assemble it for a solid 4 hours and are close to losing our minds. The doors are in place, but the drawers just don’t fit. It’s only a matter of millimeters, but they hang so much “too low” that they are not flush with the top edge of the cabinet and additionally block the door. The small adjustment with the dial doesn’t help at all. We have tried everything: mounting the drawer slide at different heights and attaching the drawer front the other way around, but nothing makes a difference. The drawer slides themselves are correctly installed, with the second front screw etc., at the 5th hole from the top (although we also tried the 6th hole). Can anyone help?

Many thanks!

Hello,
this sounds like the front was installed as shown on page 9 instead of page 10.

Hello IKEA expert,

first of all, thank you very much for your reply. Although I had hoped there would be another solution for this.

We have now actually replaced the tracks and installed the "soft-closing" ones instead. They are now working exactly as they should.

I have the Besta lowboards as well as two drawers with Selsviken and the push-to-open drawer system. In the beginning, I also experienced the problems described. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t, and sometimes only on one side. This is definitely due to the adjustment of the drawer runner (small knurled screw). Also, check if the front panel is straight. I had one front panel that was warped by a few millimeters (placed a spirit level on it and then discovered the issue). After exchanging it, everything worked perfectly.
