Hello dear home-building forum,
After much consideration, we are now starting the adventure of building a house. Initial discussions with banks are already underway, and we have begun visiting exhibitions and trade fairs.
Unfortunately, our searches within the forum did not lead us to any posts that answer our question.
In quiet moments, we find ourselves wondering, “How do you best compare prefabricated house manufacturers based on a specific project? Do you need a detailed plan (drawings, specifications, etc.) for this?”
Maybe someone has an idea of the best approach for this.
Thank you and best regards

The only way to do this is by thoroughly studying the scope of work description and conducting many on-site inspections to assess the quality of workmanship, doing preliminary sampling, and frequently making changes to the configurations (as this often reveals some aspects that are not obvious at first glance). At the end of the day, prefabricated house providers will never be fully comparable because, for example, the wall construction differs based on their philosophy, or the execution of the same detail varies... They do it in the way they believe they can provide a warranty for.
The show homes, by the way, usually have a lot of optional extras, just like cars in a showroom. So there is a big difference between the list prices from the catalog and the house you see in front of you.

The show homes and exhibitions are ultimately designed to appeal emotionally and visually, much like the prospective homeowners themselves. They are also meant to showcase the builder’s capabilities, so I think it makes sense not to display just the basic standard features. Customers usually want to see special upgrades, and since everyone has different tastes and wants to explore various extras, the show homes are generally fully equipped overall.
I would also view the display homes from this perspective: aesthetic appeal and quality of workmanship. I would handle the selection of specific fixtures and finishes more through specialized trade exhibitions (bathroom displays, etc.) and then actively incorporate them into the project specifications once a trusted builder has been chosen.
At the manufacturers’ selection centers, this process is more compact and can be quickly translated into concrete price implications. However, even there, I would separate the two: visual impressions in the show home, and rational decisions in the selection center.
