Hello,

can someone roughly tell me how much extra it would cost to install a bay window instead of a regular window?

Best regards

NO, since no one knows which design, size, and features you want.

By the way, bay windows have been out of style for at least a decade!

Hello Jenna

Even if this style is really considered "out," it doesn’t mean you wouldn’t personally like it... so don’t be discouraged. Just get a quote from a window manufacturer for the size you want (that is, width and height, as well as the projection—how far the window will extend from the facade).

The problem that arises in this context is related to thermal insulation and the long-lasting sealing between the facade and the interior. This must be carefully planned and then precisely executed. Only then will you enjoy your bay window for a long time!

Hello,

@blurboy: You’re right, of course, without measurements you can’t really say anything... my problem is that our house is still in the planning phase. I have now asked the construction company for the dimensions.

@Bauline: Thanks a lot for the encouragement! That it might be outdated wouldn’t have really bothered me anyway.

Well, unfortunately we just received a message from our construction company saying the matter is settled. At the spot where we could do it, I actually think it would be rather awkward... still, thanks for your replies.

Honestly, I don’t quite understand this reply...

…Have you considered the alternative of “corner windows” instead? We are currently installing them quite often; if the budget doesn’t really allow for corner window units, you can also create good solutions using conventional window elements and doors. Increasingly, the corner area is highlighted with contrasting colors – and that completes the unique exterior look.

Kind regards

Hello building expert,

We have also considered the corner window solution but then discarded it again. And in the spot where I would like the bay window, there is also the patio door... I need to think this through carefully once more and have our architect review it... I find such window solutions really good...
