Hello everyone,
who among you has built in the Bauhaus style and would like to share some pictures? We are currently planning to build with a flat roof and are still looking for inspiration.
Thank you very much & best regards

Setbacks and projections increase the cost of the project.
If you already know that the budget is tight and that the half-story has to be omitted...
It’s better to build budget-friendly and standard. It’s always a shame to give up on a dream design, but if it’s not affordable, it simply can’t be done.
I know how much costs can add up for Bauhaus-style houses.
We are building with a flat roof and in Bauhaus style. However, that won’t be very helpful for your project. Pictures and details are available in a separate thread.
I can only say that it always requires many non-standard features, which can get quite expensive.

I’ll give it a try. Most flat-roofed semi-detached houses online have a setback upper floor (2.5 stories), which usually looks quite good. However, we will only be able to afford two full stories, and most flat-roofed semi-detached houses look like two cubes stuck side by side. I saw you again in another thread today and just wanted to ask if and how you have progressed since then. If there is already a specific plot of land, we could try to brainstorm together if you “let us in” on the details. If you don’t yet feel fully prepared for a semi-detached house project in terms of what you want: with the search terms “11ant Doppelhaus” and “Ohnekellerer” or “Mitkellerer,” you should quickly find my collected ramblings on this topic. Do you already know your partner for the other half? (Maybe they have a bigger budget and want to add a setback upper floor, which would change the whole twins concept quite a bit.)

We are planning a cubic flat-roof house (as required by the building plan) (...) and want to place a duplex on it, which makes the whole thing a bit more complex An example using Google:
Baurmann Dürr, duplex in Kirchfeld, Karlsruhe

Baurmann Dürr, semi-detached house in Kirchfeld, Karlsruhe Unfortunately, no, I would say. When I think of an "example," I expect it to be applicable to the specific situation, and this property is atypical in terms of size. The original poster already mentioned that they cannot afford a two-and-a-half-story house – from this, I conclude that it is more likely a standard semi-detached house plot rather than one like the "example," which consists of two attached buildings on plots large enough to easily accommodate detached single-family homes. So this is more of a double villa, but the discussion here is probably about the usual "halves."
