Hello everyone,

I just wanted to briefly introduce myself and say thank you.

For about a year and a half, I have been a silent reader here to gather inspiration and especially to gain more knowledge about construction technology.

Now a bit about me:
After more than a year of searching for a plot of land, I was able to purchase one from a developer who couldn’t move forward quickly with his plans.
So we found our dream plot (good location, 2500 m² (0.62 acres), slight slope, underground private spring that we have to preserve and are allowed to use).
There was an old house on the property, which we have since demolished.
There is no zoning plan, so §34 applies. During an initial informal inquiry at the building authority, almost everything we planned was rejected.
So we submitted an official preliminary building inquiry, involved the right people, and had lengthy discussions. In the end, we received a positive decision.
Therefore, there is nothing standing in the way of the building permit. The building permit should be granted within the next few weeks as there are no changes from the preliminary inquiry.

My wife (37) and I (36) want to build a Bauhaus-style villa in southern Baden-Württemberg.
It will be constructed from concrete (with core insulation) or in combination with insulated precast elements.
A lot of glass (full-glass system), textile shading, KNX, fast network both wired and wireless, strong mechanical ventilation with additional cooling coils, stainless steel pool, large cistern, and more.
The electrical planning must be 100% spot on since it’s almost impossible to make changes afterward.
Since I am friends with an architect from a larger firm, it was clear which route we would take. Such a house can basically only be realized with an architect.
I also personally know the electrician and KNX system integrator, as well as the owners and work approach of the heating, plumbing, and ventilation companies involved.
Some trades have already been contracted, and part of the equipment has already been ordered.

I’m really looking forward to getting started and to the final result. The goal is to move in by the end of 2019.

Once again, many thanks for the information I have received from you so far.
If you have any questions, just let me know.

Attached is the design, though not the final version. There have been a few minor changes.

Greetings from Swabia

The wardrobe and dressing room furniture are built by a carpenter. Surfaces are Fenix.
The color choice will come together once the wall colors are applied...
Flush doors (walnut) are also made by the carpenter.

Dining chairs are from Freifrau with a light brown upholstery, as are the bar stools.
As for the table (280x100x75 cm (110x39x30 inches)), I don’t know the manufacturer at the moment. It’s a workshop on Lake Como and will also be walnut.
The lamp will be a Louis Poulsen Artichoke in rose copper (LED, 3000 K, DALI). We will decide between 72 cm (28 inches) diameter or 84 cm (33 inches) once the table is in the house.

The lowboard and bookshelf in the living room are Kettnacker Soma in curry. We bought a showroom piece before we even had the foundation slab. Since then, the showroom piece was sold again, and we will receive a new one. I also have a personal connection to that furniture store...
Today, we configured an additional sideboard in pistachio for the living room.
In some places in the house, we are following a “yellow-green concept.”

The furniture in the office and bedroom is from USM Haller. The bed is from Schramm and will have a different upholstery. The office chairs will probably be Vitra.

Did I forget anything?

@rick2018 sorry for the quick question: how did you implement the lighting control? KNX only or DALI? I think I read something about DALI earlier in the thread. Why did you choose it?

Thanks and best of luck with everything, it looks great. We are currently at the shell construction stage...

KNX has made significant progress in lighting control over the past few years. Nowadays, there is (almost) no reason to choose DALI in a single-family home anymore.

However, this does apply to us. Our lamps all have DALI ballasts and some are only available that way (for example, the dining table light). Therefore, it was @easier@ for us to go with DALI. Perhaps @Mycraft can shed more “light on the subject.”

Good luck with the rest of your build. Do you have any pictures of the shell construction?

Thank you for the quick response @rick2018

I’m having a hard time deciding between KNX only or a DALI gateway. But that could be a topic for its own thread.

One more question: are you using LED bulbs or halogen? Halogen is superior in terms of color rendering and natural dimming behavior (LEDs try to imitate this with dim-to-warm), but LED is often presented as the future technology...

PS: Pictures will be posted in a separate thread in due course

We use only LEDs. All are 3000K.

Outside, soil was moved, and today additional foundations were poured for the extension of the retaining wall as well as the enclosure. These are planned to be installed tomorrow.

Hopefully, we will receive the electricity meter soon so that the photovoltaic system can be connected to the grid and we can use the sockets inside the house.

Inside, the interior work is progressing well. Installing the ceiling was a great decision. It is already in place in the bedroom. The slight blue tint is caused by the protective window film.
Today, the access point (NanoHD) was installed. The cable entry on the Nano is about 3.5cm (1.4 inches) off-center. The measurements were carefully checked to ensure the spacing matches with the light fixtures.
Once we are no longer relying on temporary construction power, the network will be permanently operational and the temporary setup will be removed.

If not during the construction phase, when else would there be a valid reason to invest in new or additional tools?
