Hello,

during our home renovation, a new Bette Free bathtub was installed. As usual, water was filled in to level the tub. The water was meant to stay in place while the tiler worked around it, to protect the enamel from adhesives and falling objects. However, some dirt from drilling work had accumulated. In short, we drained the water to clean the dirt out!

We then noticed that the water was not draining completely. After several discussions between the plumber, wholesaler, and manufacturer, I was asked to pour cola into the bathtub. Bette then requested a photo.

You can see how the cola flows away but some residue remains around the drain, while just before the drain edge, there is a circular white ring of enamel standing out from the cola. According to Bette and this photo, it is supposed to be damage from transport or handling. Since the tub was carefully inspected upon delivery and again on the installation day, with no chips or scratches visible, we find this explanation hard to accept.

I mean, the tub is made of 3 to 3.5mm (0.12 to 0.14 inch) thick deep-drawn steel; anyone familiar with metalworking knows that’s quite solid. Otherwise, a person weighing over 90 kg (200 lbs) would just float in the tub.

I am looking for someone who has dealt with this issue or a similar problem.

I am currently searching for an expert assessor. I am really frustrated with Bette; their customer service is nonexistent. They haven’t even had the decency to visit in person.
