Hi,

does anyone already use something like this? Does anyone know of recessed ceiling spotlights (bathroom) that can be controlled via Alexa? Or does anyone have a solution for this?

Thanks!

Socket for GU10 bulbs, then Philips Hue or Ikea Tradfri GU10 + gateway

Have a look at Shelly relays on the major online retailer.

Do you mean something like this?

@Heinz2k
Thanks for the tip, that’s exactly the solution.
But doesn’t that create a fairly high frame structure above the drywall panels? The panels rest on a profile about 2-3cm (1 inch) high, then comes the membrane, followed by the insulation...

@goalkeeper
No idea what that part is or how it’s used.

Yes, you do need it; even the small Hue is already 5.5 cm (2.2 inches) thick. With a 1.25 cm (0.5 inch) drywall panel, it probably won't be enough. Alternatively, there is the Shelly 1 switch, which fits directly into the flush-mounted box of the light switch and is also Alexa compatible.

Hmm... If I understand correctly, this Shelly switch can make a recessed spotlight that is not Alexa-compatible switchable via Alexa anyway? This means you have complete freedom regarding the recessed spotlight. Apart from that, is there a specific IP rating required for bathroom spots?

Alternatively, would you need to lower the drywall ceiling by installing profiles to create more space above?
