Hello dear home builders... :o

I have a very important question, and I wanted to ask if anyone here might be familiar with this:

If you have a disability ID card, I have read that depending on the severity and individual cases, there may be financial support available when modifying a bathroom to suit the specific needs.

Does anyone here have knowledge or experience with this? It is very important to us because the person affected—and we, as helpers—are facing difficulties. We have an old shower that the person has to step into each time, which is very challenging for both them and us.

I would appreciate any information or responses.

I think this topic is too specific for this forum.
Why not try googling? ... when I enter the keywords, I get a variety of websites that can help you further 🙂

Take a look at the Kfw program for barrier-free renovations; there are options for low-interest loans or, more recently, grants of up to 10% – a certificate is not even required for this.

Otherwise, try contacting the authorities, you might find something there as well.

Good luck,

As already correctly mentioned, there are support programs offered by the NRW.Bank, and health insurance providers also contribute to the renovation costs. I would therefore advise you to first talk to your health insurance company and then consult a financial advisor if needed. Another helpful step would be to contact consumer advice services, where staff can provide useful information.
