Hello everyone,

we are currently gutting our new apartment and would like to start planning the bathroom. We are facing some challenges in how to best divide the space and would appreciate your support.

I am attaching the floor plans of the apartment. Our goal is to include a guest toilet if possible and practical given the limited space. There is an option to enlarge the bathroom by about 25 cm (10 inches), moving the wall further into the kitchen.

The main requirements for the bathroom are:

  • Toilet (ideally also a urinal, if feasible)
  • Large washbasin with mirror cabinet
  • Walk-in shower (at least 1 x 1 m (3 ft 3 in x 3 ft 3 in), preferably larger)
  • Bathtub
  • Heated towel rail
  • Niches, for example in the shower, for storage
  • Enough space for a shelf and a laundry basket
The window height in the bathroom is approximately 95 cm (37 inches) from the finished floor level, so installing a toilet at this location is generally possible. Additionally, there is a 10 cm (4 inches) thick wall panel running along the entire wall. Inside the bathroom wall, there are 2 x DN110 HT pipes in the corners on the window side. Thanks to the raised floor and suspended ceiling in the bathroom below, the pipes can be routed almost anywhere.

The bathroom entrance can be modified to create a rectangular room if this looks better aesthetically.

If you have any creative ideas for space-saving or especially functional layouts, we would be very grateful! We are open to suggestions and look forward to hearing about your experiences.

Thank you in advance!

The shower partition is built with drywall construction, which also allows for installing a niche.

Here is an example with a double washbasin 120cm (47 inches) wide and a mirror cabinet. A liquid soap dispenser will be mounted on the wall.

Also a very nice option. The decision will be difficult. 😀

For this example, I was thinking the following:

The door stays as it is and does not shift inward.
The room is enlarged by 25cm (10 inches) (the wall by the shower moves 25cm (10 inches) towards the kitchen).
Rotate/mirror the area of the bathtub and laundry basket?
The built-up wall in front of the toilet (outer wall) could be omitted since the drainage can be moved into the drywall partition.
It would also work if only the built-up wall at the bathtub is installed, for the faucet plus a niche for storage.
Are there options to hide the hot water meter well? Maybe install it in the toilet above?

The hot water meter needs to be placed where the hot water enters before it is distributed within the apartment.

I don’t quite understand what changes you would like.

Why move the wall toward the kitchen? The bathroom is sufficiently large.

Which option do you prefer? After looking at the visualization, I still don’t find the separated toilet appealing.

Please mark your changes on the corresponding draft. It’s enough to draw them in with a pen.

Are there any further adjustment requests? Otherwise, I will use the program for someone else.
