Hello,
as always, we need to finalize the bathroom planning at very short notice for our building project. Our floor plan is very similar to this one, with the restriction that a toilet needs to be placed at or near the position of the bathtub.
The builder has proposed the following layout (it looks a bit cluttered because the original design is underneath). I still don't like it because I don’t see any practical space for one or two bathroom cabinets. Also, I think the entrance area to the shower might get wet, and I find the numerous bulkhead walls somewhat unnecessary.
I have planned another design that I hope the MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) engineers can implement as well. I would really appreciate your feedback on it. Thank you very much!
The idea behind the design is to realize a walk-in shower and protect it somewhat from water splashing out with a small glass panel around the corner. I would make the wall between the shower and toilet half-height and add another glass panel above it, possibly a bit longer. Do you think this could work?

Unfortunately, we had to make firm decisions now, so I don’t see any more possibilities for changes, at least not regarding the overall structure. As you saw in the other thread, communication has been a bit difficult for us, and we recently had a favorable situation where we were able to get some additional changes approved (for example, a 3m (10 feet) lift-and-slide door instead of a 2m (6.5 feet) hinged door in the living area) along with a few other detailed adjustments. However, we had to move faster than I would have liked when it came to the bathroom.
I’m still happy to look at other options, and maybe it will help someone else later on. I just wanted to avoid you doing the work only for me to say afterward, “I can’t implement this anyway.”

I tried drafting a plan again. Unfortunately, I can’t think of much else :-( The shower walls will be mostly glass here, just as you planned. Thanks! We had a similar option in mind, but I prefer the bathroom area this way. The distance between the shower wall and the sink is the same, and we decided on the version with the wall on the left side of the room instead of the wall in front of the entrance door.
Sometimes I really wonder how it is possible to make these kinds of decisions within just 48 hours. Bathroom, kitchen, and storage locations were the most important points on the list when I started planning my "new" apartment about 12 years ago. For each of these points, there were at least 2 to 5 different options, which I seriously weighed back and forth over several days. Yes, I was lucky to have full decision-making control for a rental apartment. But 48 hours for a bathroom? Or kitchen? Well, I had plenty of time and various possibilities to experiment. For the past 10 years, I have lived with these mental considerations as a kind of playground, and I’m glad I thoroughly thought through so many different options first. Because today, I would still choose everything exactly the same way I did almost 11 years ago.
So if the screed isn’t installed yet, almost everything is still possible – right?
Here is my bathroom, which is very similar in size. I even think I still owe the pictures to @ypg?
(The cleaning supplies were left behind by the cleaner yesterday 😉)
The layout regarding the window and door is almost exactly like yours, with a bathtub, shower (140cm x 90cm (55 inches x 35 inches)), vanity, toilet… everything included.
I really like it, and most visitors also appreciate how open and spacious it feels (relative to the size of the apartment).

Especially since these are all topics we discussed several weeks ago. It’s not just that better communication would have given us more time (and probably better results in the end), but also that additional costs could have been avoided—partly for us, but mainly for the developer.
Overall, I still have to say that we are very satisfied with the results achieved so far. I now have the "final" floor plans of the three townhouse units. Ours has been extensively changed; practically no wall remains in the original position, and it has been optimized according to our wishes. A great result. The other two have remained basically the same and, in my opinion, have some flaws. But the buyer will just have to accept that.
