Good morning everyone,

We have been puzzling over the layout of our bathroom for several evenings now. The exterior walls of the house are already in place, but the interior walls can still be adjusted.

I don’t like this long, narrow shape for the bathroom. I also wonder if it would be too small if we added a bathtub. Unfortunately, we are beginners when it comes to building a house and have no idea how to arrange this bathroom.

Does anyone have suggestions, tips, or any important points we should consider?

A big thank you in advance to everyone who contributes!

A long, narrow bathroom is really practical. There’s not much wasted space in the middle, and everything is used efficiently. You even have 12sqm (approx. 130 sq ft), which is more than enough. I would probably choose a larger shower, but I like the layout of the bathroom. Unfortunately, you didn’t provide any dimensions, so it’s hard to tell how long the individual wall sections are.

Thank you very much for your assessment. Unfortunately, we don’t have exact measurements yet; we are supposed to get them next week. I must say, though, I still find the idea of a narrow bathroom a bit difficult.

What do you find so disturbing about that? 12sqm (130sqft) is really not small. Rental apartments have 5sqm (54sqft), I have 7sqm (75sqft) in my mid-terrace house, and you have 12. It’s really not cramped or anything. Is the rectangle on the terrace a skylight?

Where is the 2-meter (6.5 feet) line? I could imagine having a bathtub under the roof window, and possibly skipping a washbasin if the wall space is too tight. However, dimensions would be important for evaluation.

How about like this?

Dimensions are now only roughly estimated.
