Hello,

We are almost finished with the planning of our house; only the bathroom layout remains to be finalized.

The bathroom is relatively small and has sloped ceilings, but we would still like to have a walk-in shower if it can be done without major compromises.

The first draft comes from the general contractor’s floor plan, and I tried making a second version myself. My girlfriend has already criticized the second plan because you step directly into the shower when entering the bathroom; maybe this could be changed by having the door open in the opposite direction. I see the main advantage of my layout in the significantly longer shower. The contractor’s shower is about 130cm (51 inches), mine is over 150cm (59 inches).

The room measures approximately 270cm by 290cm (106 by 114 inches), and the skylight faces east. To the left of the bathroom is the staircase, and to the right is the study, with the utility room located below it. Do you have any better ideas?

Thank you

Hello,
you could swap the positions of the bathtub and the toilet in the general contractor's draft. Then you might also be able to extend the shower screen a bit.

Thank you for the quick reply!

We have already considered that as well, but the toilet is directly visible from the door, and it would be nicer if it were somewhat "hidden." Due to the small size, that is not so easy to achieve.

Maybe the swapped version with the toilet on the left side at the 2m (6.5 ft) mark? So that the first view is blocked by the washbasin? How wide should the washbasin be?

The standard washbasin from our supplier is 65x50cm (26x20 inches). I will try to implement your idea using the planning tool and see how it looks.

We almost exactly followed the version suggested by Jochen for our slightly larger bathroom.
Our dimensions are 3.20 m (10.5 ft) wide and 3.02 m (9.9 ft) deep.
The partition wall at the shower is only half-height (about 1.50 m (5 feet)) and directly behind it is the bathtub. Originally, we planned to add a glass panel up to the ceiling on top of the partition wall, but we decided against it. The toilet in our layout is roughly where your window is located.

Water already splashes up to the door on our side. With 50 cm (20 inches) less space, this will probably be even worse.
For that reason, I would not recommend the walk-in shower option as you have it.
