Hello everyone,

I am looking for a good solution for our main bathroom. We have been planning with a T-layout, but I’m no longer sure if this is the best option.

Attached you’ll find the planned T-layout and an alternative.

Room details:
  • Dimensions: 3.51 m x 3.51 m (11.5 ft x 11.5 ft)
  • Door: must be on the left wall, position still flexible
  • Window at the bottom: width 2.01 m (6.6 ft), height 0.885 m (2.9 ft), sill height 1.18 m (3.9 ft), single-leaf, tilt-only
  • Window on the right: width 0.76 m (2.5 ft), height 1.20 m (3.9 ft), sill height 0.865 m (2.8 ft), not mandatory but I think it’s good for ventilation

Contents:
  • walk-in, level-access shower
  • toilet
  • bathtub
  • washbasin, width 1.30 m (4.3 ft)
  • cabinet, width 0.70 m (2.3 ft)
  • towel radiator

Unfortunately, the bathroom planner was not very creative. Do you have any good ideas?

Thank you very much in advance!

Edit: No sloped ceilings, all walls full room height.

I think this T-configuration is a good solution. The space is used efficiently and zoned well, in my opinion. I might consider swapping the toilet and shower so that the toilet is closer to the fresh air (window).

... and you can also look outside then – it won’t be so boring that way

Good morning, thank you for your feedback.

We had considered that as well. However, it was more important to me that when ventilating, the moisture from the shower is effectively removed to prevent mold from developing on the grout over time. I was personally a bit concerned about ventilating “around the corner.” What are your thoughts on this?

The partition walls are also not intended to be full height. Do you have any experience with that (2m (6.5 ft)?)?

We solved it with a 2.20 m (7 ft 3 in) high partition wall between the sink and the shower. However, we have a 1.30 m (4 ft 3 in) wide sink, not a small one as shown in the drawing.

The exhaust vent for the mechanical ventilation with heat recovery is located next to the bathtub in the service wall (bottom left in the picture). We have had no issues with moisture in the bathroom or shower.

Do you have underfloor heating? I wouldn’t worry too much about moisture in that case. Also, the T-wall is not built up to the ceiling, so water vapor can escape at the top.
