Hello,
Since I am about to start building my house and am already thinking about the bathroom but have no clear idea yet, I’m opening this thread.
Please feel free to share how you have built your bathrooms and what they look like. Maybe I can pick up some ideas!

knalltüte8 Mar 2020 15:20old house, now the bathroom is just a "home office bathroom / toilet"

On the left, you can still see the frame of the "glass block window." Where the wooden window is now, there used to be a glass block wall. Before this room became a bathroom, it was a small workshop (behind the blue door in the wall is the basement with the oil tanks...). Unfortunately, I didn’t take any photos of the glass blocks. From the outside, they were quite dirty and white-stained (like a dripstone cave) from water running down (there is a terrace above). The water issue was fixed above (terrace above terrace with a roof and separate drainage). Then the bathroom was renovated. Behind the window is a narrow corridor, and at a distance of 1 meter (3 feet) is the neighboring house (the corridor belongs to the neighbor on the left, the house belongs to the neighbor on the right around the corner).

The old tiles were treated and then covered over with the new tiles. The base for the washing machine and dryer was done the same way.

In the meantime, “new electrical wiring” has been installed in the bathroom, allowing the washing machine and dryer to be used at the same time. Previously there were three 1.5mm² cables connected somehow. Now the circuit is separately protected (sub-distribution in the basement with its own residual current device).

The toilet has since been replaced with a larger model featuring a soft-close seat, and of course, the bathroom radiator is back in place.
The flooring is click vinyl, installed as a floating floor using leftovers from the office. In the end, there was barely more than an A4 sheet of material left over.

knalltüte13 Mar 2020 06:35... now I know where the €28,000 for the "average German bathroom" disappear to
But here, every cent is definitely worth it ... cool! How is the view during the day (window)?
And what will be installed as the shower enclosure?

Alessandro13 Mar 2020 07:36Adjacent to the "band wall" is our carport. On this side, our neighbor is nicely far away, and no one has a direct view into the bathroom.
The shower enclosure will be a glass panel with a 70cm (28 inch) opening.

Alessandro13 Mar 2020 08:0828,000 euros for an average bathroom can easily be explained by the ceramics cartel. I still find it outrageous what wholesalers or installers charge here compared to similar prices available online.
