Hello everyone,

Our house is slowly coming along, and we are currently working on the detailed planning of the two bathrooms on the ground floor and upper floor.

After we were glad to have agreed on a visual layout, we created a similar design for both bathrooms.

The tiles on the floors and walls are all the same light gray (although they appear much darker in the program at times).
For accents, we will use wood-look tiles and, on the floor, partially pebble tiles.
On the drawings, north is always at the top.

Any suggestions for improvement are welcome 🙂

Regards, roland76

So, what others usually fit into one large utility room, you have split into two rooms on the ground floor. Having 11 sqm (118 sq ft) just for storing supplies would be a bit much—unless you practice long-term storage like was common in rural areas in the past, but who really does that nowadays?

Please don’t take the term "prepper" the wrong way—I didn’t mean it negatively at all! When I saw the room sizes and their labels on the floor plan, that was just the first association that came to mind.

By the way, I find it really interesting to look at floor plans here in the forum and read about the ideas behind the planning (and the critiques are also very informative).

@ypg: Thanks :-) That’s really a good idea and would have been better... Unfortunately, all the walls are already up and the shower drain connection is in place... Arghh... It really would have been better that way... :-(

@Aventin: No problem, since I don’t really know what a "prepper" is, I’m not offended… :-)

Yes, the floor plan resulted from several reasons that aren’t obvious at first glance.
The priorities were:
- The terrace should not be directly visible from the street (we have a corner lot and the street runs along the southeast side)
- Our building area is called "Windhof"… and for good reason, meaning the terrace should offer some wind protection, mainly from the usually westward wind
- We want to have our bedroom upstairs with the children at first and later, when they get older (around puberty), move downstairs to the ground floor. We wanted to separate the bedroom and bathroom a bit from the living area by a small intermediate corridor
- We wanted to partially separate the staircase from the living area (mainly for noise protection)
- Upstairs, we wanted to create the possibility of having a separate apartment (in case a child stays longer, etc.). Only the storage room should remain part of the lower apartment
- There should be direct access from the garage to the house

As far as I know, without googling, a prepper is someone who prepares their food fresh for the upcoming day or week, arranging salads and vegetables so they stay fresh and are ready to eat as a snack, meal, salad, or to be reheated. I first came across the term on Pinterest, where it was related to clean eating and healthy meal prep for work breaks.

You need both a freezer and enough space in a refrigerator to store several containers or jars. Also, a storage area for a lot of fresh produce, bought on Saturday and prepared on Sunday.

Edit: Wikipedia describes it as stockpiling supplies for emergency situations 🙂

OT: KenFM, seriously?

Preppers are generally those prepared for emergency situations
