After recently selecting fixtures at the plumbing wholesale store and already being faced with somewhat high prices, we received the corresponding offer from the plumber yesterday. As mentioned, we were prepared and were not really shocked by the price indicated at the bottom right.
Still, I wonder if some items are really worth it.
For example, a built-in faucet with a spout for the bathtub costs €600 more than an exposed faucet.
Okay, that’s something you may or may not want.
What actually unsettles me more is the topic of bathroom furniture.
Are these pieces from the specialized plumbing store really that much better than furniture from general furniture stores or home improvement centers?
There, the vanity cabinet plus the washbasin cost €1200 (about $1300) and that’s not even in the higher price segment.
On top of that, you have the mirror cabinet and possibly a tall cabinet.
Unfortunately, the washbasins and vanity cabinets are usually specially matched.
Does anyone have tips on how to create a stylish bathroom without spending a fortune?

Yep, the moose
We bought a countertop there with exactly the same front finish as the bathroom furniture… The plumber will install the sink into it. Later, a drawer cabinet will be mounted underneath, and there are also some nice wall cabinets available in the same design.
I can easily do without an expensive mirror/vanity combo if it’s going to cost over 500 (currency). There are so many beautiful mirrors that aren’t expensive and can give the bathroom an individual touch.

The bathroomFURNITURE is usually not listed in the scope of construction work, but the sanitary fixtures are. We also had to have the sanitary fixtures (and tiles) installed by our general contractor; otherwise, the warranty for the bathroom becomes void.
That’s why we only chose the standard washbasin upstairs, because the one we wanted to upgrade to was very expensive. I can install a washbasin myself later.

Maybe some premium home builders include bathroom furniture in the scope of construction work, but ours does not.
I think we will go shopping for furniture this weekend. We don’t want just a standard washbasin, but it doesn’t have to be expensive at any cost.

Bathroom furniture is really quite expensive in specialized stores. As for the sanitary fixtures themselves, I have to admit I got off fairly lightly. I didn’t find the additional costs I have to pay completely unreasonable. Of course, it adds up in the end, but it was less than I initially expected.
