Hello

I would like to get your opinion on my bathroom layout. (Household of 4 people)

Upper floor: Family bathroom with toilet, large washbasin, bathtub, washing machine, large shower (1.5 x 1.3 m (4 ft 11 in x 4 ft 3 in))

Rough dimensions: 4.4 x 2.5 m (14 ft 5 in x 8 ft 2 in)

Ground floor: Guest and backup bathroom, toilet, washbasin, large shower,

Rough dimensions: 2.4 x 2.5 m (7 ft 10 in x 8 ft 2 in)

The bathrooms do not need to be fully accessible but should be comfortable to use and not too cramped.

Try using the Villeroy & Boch planner. It gives a good sense of the rooms, especially since you can view them in 3D.

Otherwise, the plan is already an improvement.

In the guest bathroom, I would place the hand washbasin on the wall opposite the toilet. The important thing is to ensure that the passage between the shower and the washbasin does not become too narrow.

What kind of showers are you planning to have? Large glass showers and walk-in (level-access) ones?

You should also consider where the entry to the shower will be located.
A comfortable toilet installation requires about one meter (approximately 3 feet) of width. Roughly, you can plan 30 cm (12 inches) of free space, 40 cm (16 inches) for the toilet itself, and another 30 cm (12 inches) of free space. That’s how someone once explained it to me, and that’s how we implemented it. It looks good that way.
For the washbasins, you should also think about how you want to wash your hands (and possibly your hair). For example, I am not a fan of a corner solution like the one in your guest bathroom.
Another point to keep in mind in your planning is drainage and ventilation.

Hello Koempy,

I'll give the planner a try. Is there something like this available for the rest of the house, or just for the bathroom?

We are still quite early in the planning stage. At the moment, we are planning to build walls around the showers and tile them, possibly with a curtain.

By the way, I just noticed that this post might be better placed in the furnishing/living area section. Is it not possible to move it?

Better to consider a few more cladding elements!
