Hello everyone,

First of all, thank you for your time and input!

The room size is 3m x 4.75m = 14.25m² (32.68 sq ft).
We are a household of five people. Besides the main bathroom, there is a guest toilet and a small bathroom.

In the "Sanitary / Bathroom / WC" thread, we were advised to discuss the floor plan here.

We are currently planning the layout and need to decide on window sizes. A detailed bathroom design will follow later in the construction project.
At the moment, we are unsure about the window on the north side. If possible, we want to install a 180cm (71 inches) wide window there. If the bathroom cannot be arranged well with that size, the window will be 100cm (39 inches) wide. This is a key point for us. Is it possible to arrange the bathroom reasonably with a 180cm (71 inches) wide window?

Important for us: a large shower.

Here is a view of an empty room. The two wastewater pipes on the right (black squares) are marked, as well as the alignments to windows/front door on the lower floors, plus a corridor of 155cm (61 inches) for the door at the bottom left.

We have considered various options.
The bathtub can be a built-in tub to provide shelf space behind it. The two adults rarely use the bathroom. Currently, the bathtub is used exclusively by our three children.
The left layout was discussed with our architect. Due to the window issue, we are considering other options that also allow a larger window on the north side. On the north side, we overlook more neighbors because of the slope.

Multiple floor plans with bathroom, kitchen and living area in one building plan

Four bathroom layouts in a collage with bathtub, shower and washbasin.

Additional questions:
1. Is it acceptable to walk straight into the shower when entering the bathroom?
2. Regarding option 2: The toilet is centrally located. Is that problematic?
3. We want a double vanity with a width of 160cm (63 inches). How much clearance should be left on the sides? How much clearance is needed in front of it, toward the door?
4. Is a passage width of 130cm (51 inches) behind a washbasin enough to reach the rear area of the bathroom from the door?

We look forward to your input and new ideas!

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,
Alex

I believe the entire floor plan was meant. As mentioned, without an overall perspective, it will be difficult to offer any truly meaningful advice.

Hello,

I prefer option 4 the most.
- The room feels airy when you enter.
- The toilet is hidden.
- I would consider rotating the shower tray 180° and keeping the entrance on the side because of the splash guard.
- The window facing north could be made larger.

The question remains where to put the bath towels and where the laundry basket will go.

The bathtub you have chosen is a freestanding bathtub. However, the bathtub is not actually freestanding. I would carefully consider whether you want to position the bathtub like that. Dust tends to accumulate around the tub, and it’s difficult to vacuum comfortably around it. If you plan to use a robot vacuum, it definitely won’t fit under or around the tub. Changing this later is difficult since the water supply and drain come from the floor.

I think a freestanding bathtub looks nice when it is truly freestanding. If you push the bathtub into a corner, I don’t think it will have the desired effect, and maintenance will be more complicated.

You have already presented the bathroom before.

In my opinion, the toilet should be placed where the wastewater goes down.
