Hello everyone,

In two weeks, the flooring will be installed! We chose a nice cork floor from Wicanders with a PU decorative coating.

Now we are thinking about which baseboards to install.

What experiences have you had with baseboards?

- Which manufacturer or type did you choose?

- Are DIY store baseboards okay?

- White or a color similar to the floor?

- Click system?

- Is there anything you were especially happy with and would recommend?

I’m looking forward to any advice or tips 🙂

Disadvantage of gluing: If you need to run cables behind the baseboard later, it becomes difficult to remove it without damaging it, correct?

It’s not absolutely necessary to damage the baseboard, but removing the adhesive behind it is definitely more effort than simply unclipping. Ultimately, it depends on how often you need to do this.

How did you do the corners? Miter-cut or using special corner pieces?

Personally, I don’t like corner pieces of any kind.
So, I miter-cut the corners.

Do you have any experience or tips regarding the adhesion of baseboards to the vapor barrier?

The vapor barrier was installed with a 5cm (2 inch) overlap on the side (according to the instructions).

For attaching the baseboards, I definitely need to cut them flush with the floor level; otherwise, the baseboards won’t hold properly, correct?

Yes, of course. Cut it at the top edge of the floor and the problem is solved 😉
