Hello everyone,

how do you seal the area between the floor slab and the first row of bricks in your house without a basement? The insulation is applied on top of that. We have a quote here for 12,000.00 € (liquid plastic and a one-component product)?! One supplier wants to do the entire perimeter of the house with liquid plastic?! Is there no more cost-effective solution?

Hello Wintersonne

Do it yourself!
2-component thick layer bitumen. One day of work, clothes ruined, but lots of money saved.

Have you also installed the floor-to-ceiling windows with liquid waterproofing yourselves?

Hello Wintersonne

So far, I have always used thick-layer bitumen. I’m not familiar with liquid plastic coatings, but it shouldn’t be rocket science either.
The problem is always the warranty. When doing it yourself, you need to be aware of that.

In my experience, warranty coverage doesn’t always help much in certain situations. It’s a matter of hassle, effort, and proportionality.

Sometimes it can actually be better to do it yourself and possibly achieve more precision, even if it takes longer.

Edit: Of course, this also depends on your personality and your DIY skills.
