Hello,
I have a problem with the dishwasher, like many others here. We are getting a new IKEA kitchen with light Bodbyn fronts and already have a Siemens freestanding dishwasher with a stainless steel front. Now we are considering buying a new dishwasher because, in my opinion, the stainless steel front looks out of place. The problem is that the dishwasher is almost new...

I really can’t imagine how to install this dishwasher without it looking awkward. Should the legs at the bottom be raised all the way up (are they adjustable that high?) so that the dishwasher fits tightly under the countertop? Then there would be a large gap of about 16 cm (6 inches) between the bottom of the dishwasher door and the floor. Should I run the IKEA kickboard through there? But what do I do with the 8 cm (3 inches) gap above? And it looks odd if the height of the kitchen fronts and the dishwasher door don’t match.
Or would it be better to leave the dishwasher legs at their lowest position and cover the gap between the dishwasher and the countertop with a panel?
I would appreciate any advice... Or is it better to just get a new dishwasher?

Best regards,
Luucy

Hello, I also think that stainless steel and farmhouse-style fronts don’t really go well together.
The simplest solution would probably be a new dishwasher (from Ikea or a BSH XXL with a Vario hinge or a Miele XXL).

Regarding your other considerations:
It won’t be possible to install it as a tall unit up to the countertop because you would need to build a plinth.

Whether the Ikea plinth strip can simply be continued in front of the dishwasher you have to try out; you might need a cutout so that the door opens properly.

The easiest option is a panel on top, which you can cut from a 10mm (0.4 inch) drawer front.

With a kitchen plinth height of 8 cm (3 inches), you will not be able to align the dishwasher flush at the bottom. The minimum plinth height is specified in the dishwasher’s dimension drawings.

Thank you both for your tips and suggestions. It really doesn’t seem to be that simple. I still don’t know the best way to do it, but now at least I know what to watch out for, things I wouldn’t have thought of on my own...
