Hello,
we are insulating our exterior wall and I have installed 120mm (5 inches) XPS boards as perimeter insulation, which extend about 40cm (16 inches) into the ground and about 20cm (8 inches) above it. A dimpled membrane is applied over these and then backfilled.
Above that, 140mm (6 inches) mineral wool insulation boards will be added.

Now to my question:
As far as I know, the dimpled membrane is pulled up above the ground level. How can this be properly covered or concealed so that the splash water area is finished neatly?

Attached is a sketch for illustration:
Thank you very much for your help.

Hi mundele,

I'm not an expert here. Off the cuff, I would cover it with drainage fabric.

Best regards

My initial gut feeling would be to cover it with drainage fleece.

However, this fleece should be the dimpled type. I would suggest the following setup:

Concrete, then fully apply XPS insulation boards, and finally the dimpled membrane.

Hello,

It is important to work with precision here. Mistakes can become quite costly in the end. Anyone without experience in this area should hire a professional company.
