Hello,

I am new here and have a question right away:
We want to install bamboo parquet flooring (vertical, oiled) in the bathroom, and the supplier from the wood store we chose recommended that we both glue the bamboo parquet planks to each other and glue them to the subfloor.
Note: we do not have underfloor heating.

We are a bit confused because we thought you either glue the planks together or glue them to the floor, but not both.

Is this really necessary, or is a floating installation sufficient?
Are there any other special considerations when installing bamboo flooring in a bathroom?

Thank you in advance for all your answers.
Best regards,

A bamboo parquet floor for the bathroom is a great idea. Bamboo especially has low swelling tendencies. I asked my friend for his opinion, and he is enthusiastic.

My friend would install it like this:

Floating installation, with glue-down only when used over underfloor heating.

Bamboo in the bathroom, I'm not so sure about that. The bathroom tends to get a lot of splashing, and there is frequent water on the floor. In the living area, yes, but for the bathroom, I would go with tiles.

I think this covering is quite suitable for the bathroom. However, I would not install it as a floating floor, as the moisture level is too high for that. It would be better to lay cork flooring instead.

I’m always open to new ideas, but bamboo in the bathroom is hard for me to imagine. The humidity levels there are just too high.

There always have to be new ideas. Otherwise, life would be boring. I also like bamboo flooring. The idea needed some time to develop in my mind, but I will look at some samples.
